VarshaKrishi Agricultural Intelligence Infrastructure

The Problem

Most Indian smallholder farms have no reliable internet, no grid power, and no affordable way to know what their soil and crops actually need.

The Approach

Solar-powered, offline-first LoRa sensor networks for ground truth — plus free satellite imagery (Sentinel-2 / NASA HLS) turned into plain-language crop advisories in the farmer's own language.

  • Satellite crop advisory: NDVI/NDRE/EVI/NDWI per field, anomaly detection against growth-stage baselines, push advisories in 8 Indian languages.
  • Offline-first IoT: VK-Series solar sensor nodes with 5 km LoRa range and 30-day local buffering — built for zero-connectivity farms.
  • Tamper-evident records: every derived data point sealed in a per-field SHA-256 hash chain — verifiable field history from day one.
  • Science-grade advisories: FAO-56 evapotranspiration irrigation models and literature-cited disease-risk forecasting (TOMCAST DSV).
  • Radical affordability: free-imagery pipeline engineered to run at roughly $29/month — so advisories can reach farmers at near-zero cost.

    About Me

    I'm the founder of VarshaKrishi Udhyog Pvt. Ltd., an agritech startup incubated at SIIC IIT Kanpur, and a B.Tech Aerospace Engineering student at IIT Kanpur. I build technology for the farms most companies skip: no internet, no grid power, no budget for expensive tools.

    That means shipping across the whole stack — solar-powered LoRa sensor hardware, satellite imagery pipelines on free data, FastAPI backends, React dashboards, a React Native farmer app in 8 Indian languages, and agronomy engines built from cited literature (FAO-56 evapotranspiration, TOMCAST disease models) with tamper-evident hash-chained records.

    Before agritech consumed me, I built quantitative and data systems: CORE (an automated portfolio risk engine), a real-time sports-market arbitrage monitor, and TweetTracker (NLP policy sentiment analysis). That toolkit — models, data pipelines, shipped products — is now pointed at Indian agriculture.
